Lizzy and Sammy's Aunt Deb (Chris's sister) and Uncle Ed were in town Dec 11 - 16.  Lizzy loved playing with her aunt "Dub" and showing off for her uncle Ed.  It was funny because she often would refer to them an one entity "DebnEd."   We had a nice time visiting and did many thing.  Since the weather was perfect DebnEd were able to get out and hike and enjoy the beautiful weather.  Ed also went for many mountain bike rides and one time Tim was able to join him.   Mema arrive in town tues Deb 15 making it possible for us to have an early Schering Christmas celebration.  Mema will be here until Jan 10!

Here is a javilena which was standig outside Mema and Deb's condo the other day.  We all got a kick out of seeing him and the rest of the pack!

Last week (Dec 6 - 12) was a rough week for all of us.  On Saturday Lizzy started coughing and by Sunday she also had a fever.  We went to urgent care Sunday night and were given a prescription for Tamaflu as she was diagnosed with some strain of the flu.  However by Tuesday morning Lizzy was much worse.  She still had a cough and fever, but now she could not keep her food down and most upsetting was that she also seemed to have trouble breathing.  We ended up going to the ER at 6 am Tuesday where they determined that she did not have the flu but had RSV and that she was dehydrated.  They hooked her up to an IV and oxygen.  She was admitted and stayed in the hospital until Thursday afternoon.  This was rough for all of us RSV is very contagious and Sammy was not allowed into her room.  Therefore Tim and I had to take turns watching Sammy and staying with Lizzy and saw eachother only in passing.  Unfortunately, Sammy started showing similar, but less severe, symptoms on Wed.  A trip to the doctor confirmed Sammy also has RSV.  Since he was not having as much trouble breathing he was sent home with a small breathing machine to use a few times a day.  Thankfully everyone is now home and doing fairly well.  Both the kids still have a cough, but are looking and acting much better. While, Tim and I are fighting off cold-like symptoms we are so thankful to be home with our kids and with each other (3 days of dealing with sick kids and not seeing each other was pretty rough!).  Thank-you to all our friends and family for your prayers and well-wishes this past week!

At six weeks Sammy first started giving us social smiles.  However it was not until recently that he would smile long enough for us to get the camera.  Here are a few snapshots of Sammy's goofy grin.

We had a quiet Thankgiving Day with just the four of us at home.  Tim cooked the meal but Lizzy wanted to help.  She decided we needed cupcakes and quickly got to work placing the liners out on the sofa.
