Lizzy really enjoyed playing with her Papa Roger (Tim's dad). A few times we went to a park with Papa Roger, and while there he and Lizzy spent the entire time on the slides and other play pieces. Here are some pictures of Lizzy, daddy, and Papa Roger at a state park.

While in IL (~ July 7 - 12) one of the highlights for Lizzy was spending so much time with her only three cousins (Tim's sister Angie's kids). There were a few rainy days while we were in Morrison, but most of the time the weather was perfect for the kids (and adults) to play outside. Tim cuddles with his youngest nephew Derek (1 year). Lizzy loved following Derek around while he practiced walking - she would try to hold his hand, hug him, and give him kisses. Lizzy and Blake hit it off right away. They spent much time playing together on the swing set and in the sand box. Austin (6) loves trains. Here he and Lizzy play with the train set at the Family Museum in the Quad Cities. It would appear there were some mechanical difficulties with the the boys' Grave Digger, so Austin and Blake check under the hood while Lizzy tests the ignition
On June 21 we had a busy father's day. We volunteered in the church nursery in the morning (14 toddlers...). After church we went out for a nice dinner. In the evening we went to McCormick Railroad park and took a ride on the "choo-choo" and "horsey." We also spent a lot of time in the playground. On father's day weekend we went to the Wild Life Safari Zoo on saturday. We all had a great time going on a "safari" bus drive and seeing the giraffes, zebras, ostriches, and other "tame" animals up close. We were even allowed to reach out and feed the giraffes some carrots! After the safari drive we were ablew to see many wild cats (lions, tigers, etc) very close. Since tommorrow is Father's Day, it seems fitting to highlight Lizzy and daddy's special bond.... On Sunday April 5, Deb and Ed were married in Austin, TX. The wedding itself was very nice and the bride was beautiful! We went down for a long weekend - Lizzy traveled on the plane fairly well and was excellent during our stay in TX. We had a great time visiting family and friends and participating in the wedding festivities (rehearsal, ceremony, reception, etc). Lizzy was a darling flower girl - she walked down well and stood in the front long enough for Deb to arrive and to be "given away." After that Lizzy was upset about the wind blowing away the flower petals, so Tim had to take her to the back, during which she spent the entire wedding yelling "Dub, Dub, Dub." Good thing the wedding was outside as we did not hear her calling for her aunt! After the wedding, Lizzy spent the evening with a babysitter, allowing Tim and I to enjoy the evening. Above is the picture of Deb holding Lizzy during Lizzy's visit during the reception (hey, it is Lizzys website so she gets top billing even though it was Deb's wedding!). However, below are some great pictures of the Deb, Ed, and the wedding taken by Tim or by our friend Jeff Yacks (the other bride maid's husband). Lizzy just loves here Daddy. When he comes home from work she starts screaming and yelling for "dada!" Above Lizzy is helping Daddy change the batteries in her vacuum. Below Lizzy and Daddy cuddle while eating ice cream. For a few days over Chris' Spring Break we went up to the Grand Canyon. We spent three nights in a cozy cabin right on the rim. It was so nice to relax in the cabin, drink hot cocoa, and look at the gorgeous canyon. During the day we hiked and drove to many of the viewing sites. Despite the beautiful scenery, it seemed Lizzy enjoyed seeing the mules and deer the most! |
