Lizzy and mommy went to MI for almost a week.  The trip went well and we had a nice time visiting everyone, however it was nice to get back home and see Lizzy's daddy.  The entire week before the trip Lizzy was very excited, and kept saying "Mema, Dub, coming, soon!"  So by the time we got there she was thrilled to see Mema waiting for us in the Kalamazoo airport.

Lizzy and Mema spent a lot of time on the floor playing with the many toys Mema had accumulated in anticipation of our visit!

Lizzy was scared to go down the big slide at the park herself, so she talked each of us (even Mema) to go down with her.

We visited Oma a couple times while in town.  She recently returned to her room at the retirement home after a hospital stay.   We hada nice visit, plus Lizzy entertained us by doing somersaults on Oma's bed.  Lizzy still randomly says "bye-bye omen."

On Sunday April 5, Deb and Ed were married in Austin, TX.  The wedding itself was very nice and the bride was beautiful! We went down for a long weekend - Lizzy traveled on the plane fairly well and was excellent during our stay in TX.  We had a  great time visiting family and friends and participating in the wedding festivities (rehearsal, ceremony, reception, etc).  Lizzy was a darling flower girl - she walked down well and stood in the front long enough for Deb to arrive and to be "given away."  After that Lizzy was upset about the wind blowing away the flower petals, so Tim had to take her to the back, during which she spent the entire wedding yelling "Dub, Dub, Dub."  Good thing the wedding was outside as we did not hear her calling for her aunt!  After the wedding, Lizzy spent the evening with a babysitter, allowing Tim and I to enjoy the evening.    Above is the picture of Deb holding Lizzy during Lizzy's visit during the reception (hey, it is Lizzys website so she gets top billing even though it was Deb's wedding!). However, below are some great pictures of the Deb, Ed, and the wedding taken by Tim or by our friend Jeff Yacks (the other bride maid's husband).

For a few days over Chris' Spring Break we went up to the Grand Canyon.  We spent three nights in a cozy cabin right on the rim.  It was so nice to relax in the cabin, drink hot cocoa, and look at the gorgeous canyon.  During the day we hiked and drove to many of the viewing sites.  Despite the beautiful scenery, it seemed Lizzy enjoyed seeing the mules and deer the most!

Here are some pictures of Lizzy playing at home.

Lizzy loves being outside - so much that she wants to eat at the picnic table even when it is sort of chilly out!  I usually sit by her and help her eat (and use the spoon the correct direction...), however this time Brandy jumped up and joined us too so I did not have any free hands!

This year for thanksgiving we went to the Rohl's house.  The meal and the company were equally wonderful.  Tim and Chris enjoyed time with the adults and Lizzy enjoyed playing with her friend Lexi.

On sunday Chris and her friends threw a baby shower for their friend JoAnn at our house.  Tim took Lizzy away for part of the day.  While the mommies had fun at home, daddy and baby had fun hiking and playing at the park.  Here is a picture of Tim and Lizzy getting ready for their outing and a picture of Chris with a few of her friends at the party.

This morning Lizzy and mommy went to the zoo with many of Lizzy's friends and their mommies.  Lizzy's favorite animal was the big giraffe.  Later that day at home Lizzy played with her toy giraffe - although she prefered carrying it than riding it!

Lizzy got to dress-up as Little Red Riding Hood three times.

On Thur Oct 30 she and a few other 1 year olds were invited to her friend Lexi's house for a party.  The babies were all so cute as a flowers, a lady bugs,a princess, two bumble bees, and a warlock.

On Fri Oct 31 Lizzy helped mommy and daddy hand out candy to the neigborhood kids.

On Sat Nov 1 we went to Addy's house for a birthday/halloween/costume party.  Addy turned four years old on halloween.  The party was a lot of fun.  The birthday girl dressed-up as tinkerbell and her friends were darling as princesses, twin pumpkins, pirates, fairies, and more.

Lizzy spent all day sunday in the hospital because she was very dehydrated.  She fell friday night and landed on her chin resulting in a few cuts on the inside of her mouth from her bottom teeth.  She did not hit her head and seemed fine (except for the blood...).  However, all day saturday she refused to drink her bottle because it hurt her mouth - she did eat some solid food.  Sunday morning she woke up and promptly threw-up.  We tried to give her water and her bottle, and she threw-up three more times.  So we went to the emergency room ~ 8am.  After some blood work it was found she was very dehydrated.  Therefore, she was admitted and spent the day with an IV.  Luckily she responded well by re-hydrating quickly and keeping down her food.  Therefore,  we were able to take Lizzy home tonight at about 7 pm.  It was a long day filled with worry, IVs, needles, and crying, which thankfuly ended well.  Here is a picture Tim took with his phone after the blood work, before the IV.  Lizzy loves playing with our cell phones, so he was trying to distract her.
